Hi there!
I work with ambitious founders who want clarity, not chaos - & marketing that actually works.
This blog? It's where I share practical strategy, honest perspective, and the mindset shifts that make growth feel possible again.
Most founders don’t come to me because their Google Ads are broken.
They come to me because they’re spending money every month, the platform tells them it’s working, and the bank account disagrees. Something is off – they just can’t see what.
That gap is where a Google Ads expert earns their fee. Not by “running ads.” By finding out what’s actually happening, fixing what’s leaking, and making every dirham work harder before you spend another one.
Here’s what that looks like in practice, what to look for when you’re hiring, and what it should cost.
Setting up a campaign takes an afternoon. Google will practically do it for you. That’s the problem – the easy version of Google Ads is designed to spend your budget, not to grow your business.
A genuine Google Ads expert does five things, continuously:
Notice what isn’t on that list: reporting on impressions, celebrating click-through rate, or sending you a dashboard you don’t understand.
If your ads report tells you how many people saw your ad but not how many bought, you don’t have a Google Ads expert. You have a subscription.
These titles get used interchangeably, and they shouldn’t be. The differences matter commercially.
A Google Ads account manager sits inside an agency and manages your account alongside a portfolio of others. You get process and consistency. You may not get someone who understands your margins, your stock position, or why your best customers buy in October.
A freelancer (the Upwork route, typically) is the cheapest option and can be excellent. The risk is oversight: you’re relying on someone you can’t easily verify, often working in isolation from the rest of your marketing. If you go this way, be very specific about what conversion tracking they’ll implement and how they’ll report against real revenue – not platform-reported numbers.
A Google Ads consultant or expert agency takes commercial responsibility for the outcome. They should be able to tell you when Google Ads isn’t the right answer for your business – and mean it.
That last point is the real filter. Anyone who tells you paid ads are the answer before they’ve looked at your website, your margins, and where your current enquiries come from is selling, not advising.
Theory is easy. Here’s a real one.
EBC Express is a vehicle servicing and repair business in Dubai. Before June 2025 they had no Google Ads account, no conversion tracking, and no consistent lead generation system. Enquiries came from referrals and word of mouth – impossible to predict, track or scale.
We built the account from scratch. Two dedicated search campaigns, each with its own strategy and optimisation logic. WhatsApp, call and form tracking implemented from day one. Landing pages built specifically for service bookings, not a generic homepage.
Twelve months later:
The turning point wasn’t clever. Once enough conversion data had accumulated, we switched the bidding strategy to maximise conversions rather than clicks. Lead quality and campaign stability improved significantly from that point.

Traditional call tracking only tells part of the story here.
In the UAE, people enquire on WhatsApp. In the EBC Express account, the majority of leads came through WhatsApp – not phone calls, not form fills. If you’re not tracking WhatsApp click conversions, your account is optimising towards the wrong signal, and your cost per lead looks worse than it is. Or better. You genuinely don’t know which.
This is a market-specific detail that a global agency or an overseas freelancer will usually miss entirely. It’s worth asking about directly: how will you track WhatsApp enquiries, and how will you verify them against actual bookings?
If the answer is vague, keep looking.
When you create a Google Ads account, you’re offered Smart Mode or Expert Mode. Smart Mode automates most decisions. Expert Mode gives you full control – campaign types, bidding strategies, audience settings, detailed reporting, and the ability to structure an account properly.
Expert Mode isn’t harder for the sake of it. It’s the difference between letting Google decide where your money goes and deciding for yourself, based on evidence.
Any Google Ads expert worth hiring works in Expert Mode. If your account is in Smart Mode and has been for a while, that’s usually the first thing to change.
Bidding is where a lot of budget quietly disappears. The main options:
The sequencing matters more than the choice. Start with clicks to build data, verify your tracking is clean, then move to conversions. That progression is exactly what turned the EBC Express account around.
Bidding is not set-and-forget. Anyone who tells you otherwise hasn’t managed an account through a bad month.
Six questions worth asking before you sign anything:
Ask for case studies with numbers. Not “increased engagement” – actual cost per lead, conversion rate, and return.
Clear pricing, no surprises. Here’s what we charge:
| Service | Investment |
|---|---|
| Landing page build (per page, built to convert) | AED 1,200 |
| Campaign setup (full build from scratch, tracking included) | AED 3,000 |
| Monthly management (3-month minimum) | AED 3,500/month |
| Meta Ads: account audit, strategy & setup | AED 3,950 |
| Meta Ads: monthly management (3-month minimum) | AED 4,500/month |
Ad spend is paid directly by you to the platform – it isn’t included in management fees. Developer costs are separate. All prices are exclusive of VAT.

The three-month minimum isn’t a sales tactic. Accounts need time to gather enough conversion data to optimise against. Anyone promising results in week two is guessing.
Sometimes they aren’t.
If your website doesn’t convert, more traffic just costs you more money to prove it. If your email flows are broken, you’re paying to acquire customers you then fail to keep. Ads amplify whatever is already there – including the leaks.
That’s why a lot of founders start with the Full Marketing Audit (AED 7,500) instead. A complete picture across website, email, SEO, analytics and paid – including attribution verification, so you can finally see what’s really driving sales versus what the platforms claim. You get a prioritised plan, and you’ll know exactly where to invest before you commit to execution.
Fix the leaks first. Then scale.
Do I need to have run Google Ads before? No. Building from a clean account is often better than inheriting one – no legacy waste, no bad campaign structure to unpick, no inherited negative keyword gaps. EBC Express started from zero.
How long before I see results? Early data within two to three weeks. Meaningful, stable performance usually from month two to three, once there’s enough conversion data to optimise against. That’s why we work to a three-month minimum.
How much should I budget for ad spend? It depends on your market, your margins and your cost per acquisition target – but a serious lead generation campaign in Dubai typically needs a realistic monthly ad spend on top of management fees. We’ll tell you honestly what your budget can and can’t achieve before you commit.
Should I run Google Ads, Meta Ads, or both? Google captures people already searching for what you sell. Meta creates demand and retargets. For high-intent service businesses, Google usually comes first. For ecommerce, running both together often works best – we’ve seen Meta retargeting deliver 5.31× ROAS alongside Google as the highest-converting channel on site.
What’s the difference between a Google Ads expert and a Google Ads account manager? An account manager runs the account. An expert takes a view on whether the account should exist at all, how it fits your wider marketing, and what it needs to return to be worth doing.
