Hi there!
I work with ambitious founders who want clarity, not chaos - & marketing that actually works.
This blog? It's where I share practical strategy, honest perspective, and the mindset shifts that make growth feel possible again.
Sometimes the best marketing discoveries come from the most unexpected places. Like when a gorgeous wedding and event styling company came to me saying, “Kelly, everyone keeps telling us Pinterest is just for craft tutorials and recipe collections. But I have this feeling it could work for our business too.”
She was right to trust that feeling.
This stunning event rental company here in the UAE specialises in those breathtaking weddings that make you want to get married all over again, plus corporate events that actually look exciting to attend. Think elegant table settings, dreamy outdoor ceremonies, and corporate activations that don’t feel corporate at all.
But here’s the thing – they were struggling with the same challenge I see with so many event vendors. Their Instagram looked beautiful, but it felt like they were constantly fighting the algorithm for visibility. And with wedding planning happening months (sometimes years) in advance, they needed a platform that could capture people in those early dreaming stages.
That’s when Pinterest started making sense.
Here’s what most people don’t realise about Pinterest: it’s not really social media. It’s a visual search engine where people go to plan their future. And wedding planning? That’s the ultimate future-focused activity.
Think about it – when someone gets engaged, they don’t immediately book a venue the next day. They spend months creating mood boards, saving inspiration, searching for “outdoor wedding decor UAE” or “elegant corporate event styling” or “Ramadan event decorations.”
Pinterest is where those early dreamers live. And if you’re not there when they’re dreaming, you’re missing out on being part of their consideration set entirely.
We committed to six and a half months of strategic pinning, creating 1,085 SEO-optimised pins. I know that sounds like a massive number, but here’s the thing about Pinterest – consistency and volume matter more than virality.
Instead of generic “Wedding Ideas,” we created boards that spoke directly to what people were actually searching for:
Each board was like a curated magazine, telling a complete story about what their events could look like.
We used a mix of real event photography, styled flat lays, and detail shots that showcased their incredible work. But here’s the key – every single pin was optimised for search. Rich descriptions, location-based keywords, and seasonal timing that aligned with when people actually start planning events.
Six months later, the results were honestly spectacular:
1.15 million impressions – that’s over a million people seeing their beautiful work 44,420 interactions – people actively engaging with their content 14,130 pin clicks – genuine interest in learning more 915 outbound clicks to their website 4,363 saves – people bookmarking their ideas for future events
But here’s my favourite part – we achieved all of this with zero advertising spend. Every single impression was organic.
The most beautiful thing about this Pinterest success? It’s still working. Those pins we created in June are still getting saved and shared in December. Try that with an Instagram story or a Facebook post.
When someone in Dubai gets engaged in March and starts searching for wedding inspiration, they’re finding pins we created eight months earlier. When a corporate events manager needs styling ideas for a client presentation, our boards are showing up in their search results.
It’s like having a sales team that works 24/7 without you ever having to pay them.
Long-term thinking beats quick wins. We never had a single pin go massively viral, but we had hundreds of pins getting steady, consistent engagement over months.
Search intent matters more than follower count. People on Pinterest aren’t randomly scrolling – they’re actively looking for solutions to specific problems.
Quality imagery with strategic keywords is unbeatable. Beautiful photos get attention, but SEO-optimised descriptions get discovered.
Seasonal planning gives you a massive advantage. While competitors scramble to post Ramadan content during Ramadan, you can be there waiting when people start planning in January.
There’s this misconception that Pinterest only works for Western markets. Absolute nonsense. UAE residents are incredibly visual, they plan events meticulously, and they absolutely use Pinterest for inspiration – especially for weddings and celebrations where the visual element is everything.
Plus, with the diverse population here, people are often planning events that blend different cultural traditions. Pinterest is perfect for that kind of inspiration gathering.
Here’s something fascinating we discovered – those Pinterest boards started showing up in Google search results too. When people searched for “wedding venues Dubai” or “corporate event styling,” their Pinterest boards were ranking alongside their website.
It was like getting two marketing channels for the effort of one.
Whether you’re a wedding vendor, interior designer, product-based business, or even a service provider, the principles remain the same:
Think like your customer’s planning timeline. When do they start researching? Be there first.
Create content that’s worth saving. Not just pretty, but useful and inspirational.
Optimise everything for search. Pinterest is a search engine first, social platform second.
Be patient with the process. Pinterest success builds momentum over time, not overnight.
Six months later, this event styling company has completely changed how they think about marketing. Instead of constantly creating new content for platforms that bury it after 24 hours, they’ve built a library of discoverable, searchable inspiration that works for them around the clock.
